Minimally Invasive Options and Technology • • • The Aluma™ Skin Renewal System is the newest radio frequency procedure for skin tightening of all areas of the face, reducing fine lines, tightening loose eyelid skin, lifting facial jowls, and softening “lipstick” lines. It also is effective in tightening skin on the neck, chest, arms, abdomen and legs. Aluma’s advantage over other previous radio frequency technology is it’s gentle, pain-free, no downtime treatment. A typical procedure can take approximately 15 minutes and patients can return to their normal activities immediately.
BOTOX® therapy blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are related to expression lines, relaxing the muscles so they do not contract. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected. The procedure is simple, non-surgical, and no anesthesia is required. The entire treatment takes approximately 10 minutes. Discomfort is minimal, similar to the sensation of a bug bite. Most patients return to their normal activity immediately. Results last up to 4 months. BOTOX® therapy also has become an effective treatment for blepharospasm (excessive blinking), strabismus (misaligned eyes), hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), cervical dystonia (disorder of head and neck muscles), and chronic and migraine headaches. Deep, medium and light rejuvenating chemical skin peels are effective in removing the dead cells from the skin’s surface, allowing healthier skin cells to come through, giving a smoother texture to the skin and a glowing and radiant appearance. In addition to the face, peels can also be performed on the neck, arms, chest, and back. Chemical peels can be administered in an hour period, and patients can return to their normal activities. With some peels, patients may experience some light flaking within day one or two, and slight redness for one to twelve hours following treatment.
Active-FX™, deep fractional laser treatments, is an effective single treatment fractional laser resurfacing procedure using CO2 laser energy to treat fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and depressions, freckles and age spots. The treatment’s results are smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin, without patients undergoing the deep redness, general anesthesia, and lengthy downtime of traditional CO2 laser skin resurfacing. Compared to other laser resurfacing “fractional” technologies, Active-FX cuts procedure time in half; can treat the eye area; requires only one treatment; is less costly, and uses “established” CO2 laser technology. A complete face can be treated in a single treatment in less than 30 minutes, and the required downtime can be as short as four days, essentially a long weekend. Intense Pulse Light™ (IPL Photorejuvenation) Featuring Lumenis ONE® System Intense Pulse Light™ (IPL) technology is a gentle, non-invasive, long-lasting treatment that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions: facial skin imperfections, age spots, broken capillaries, freckles, mottled pigmentation, birthmarks, enlarged pores, unwanted hair, dark circles under the eyes, unsightly veins, the symptoms of rosacea, and other blemishes. Our practice offers Lumenis ONE® IPL, the most advanced IPL technology system. A non-laser medical device is used to deliver a series of gentle pulses of light to the skin. Lumenis ONE® IPL provides dramatic skin improvements, little risk, and no downtime. A mild amount of discomfort can be expected. Each treatment takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the area needing treatment. Immediately following treatment, the skin may appear red and flushed, although this effect will gradually fade over a period of hours. Patients can resume their normal routine. Depending on the number and severity of conditions, a series of treatments are recommended for optimal results. After the first treatment, the skin will feel smoother, and will have a more even tone. Improvements are gradual and will be more visible after each treatment. IPL can be beneficial after laser resurfacing or facelift surgery to improve results, and can also be used in conjunction with BOTOX® Cosmetic or chemical peeling to enhance results.

The key ingredient found in JUVEDERM is hyaluronic acid, a natural, complex sugar found in our bodies, which eliminates the risk of allergic reactions associated with traditional collagen fillers. The Levulan® Photodynamic Therapy™ System is a two-part process that utilizes both Levulan® Kerastick® topical solution and a light source to treat moderate to severe acne, actinic keratoses (rough, scaly skin patches), sun damaged skin, oily skin and sebaceous hyperplasia. The treatment begins with a Levulan® Kerastick® topical solution applied to the affected areas on the skin. This solution makes the acne and actinic keratoses more sensitive to light, which prepares the skin for the second step in the process. After leaving the topical solution on the skin for 45-60 minutes, the treatment continues with light therapy. Immediately following treatment, a mild amount of discomfort, temporary reddening, and minimal swelling of the skin can be expected, although this effect will gradually fade after several days. Patients are advised to avoid sunlight and sources of bright light for at least 40 hours after treatment. The entire treatment (topical and light) takes approximately 1 to 2 hours depending on the size of the area needing treatment. Depending on the number and severity of conditions, a series of treatments are recommended for optimal results.
LightSheer™ Laser Hair Removal (Epilation) LightSheer™ Diode Laser, better known as epilation, is the most advanced treatment for the effective removal of unwanted hair. It treats numerous hair follicles simultaneously making hair removal faster and more reliable. LightSheer can quickly and effectively treat all areas of the body including the face, neck, abdomen, breasts, legs or underarms in women or the shoulders, chest and back in men, quickly and effectively. During the procedure, the diode laser pulses for a fraction of a second, heats up the hair and impedes the follicle’s ability to re-grow. A special contact-cooling handpiece allows treatment of even the most sensitive skin, protecting and cooling the upper layer of the skin before, during and after each laser pulse while directing the laser energy to the hair root. The length of the treatment may last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of the area being treated. Hairs in an active growth phase, referred to as anlagen, are most affected by the laser. Since all hairs are not in this phase at the same time, more than one treatment will be necessary to achieve optimal results. For those areas of the body that are more sensitive, topical anesthesia can be used. Most people can return to their normal activities immediately. Radiesse™ is comprised of microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite, combined with an aqueous gel, identical to the chemical structure of calcium naturally present in the human body. Once injected, the product’s cream-like texture resembles that of normal facial tissue. The body’s own tissues will integrate with the Radiesse microspheres as a natural process of the body, restoring fullness to treated areas. Treatment time is approximately 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated. Unlike products that loose their effectiveness within only a few months, Radiesse lasts up to one year. No skin testing is required. Restylane® is a non-animal hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar present in the body that creates volume in the skin. As we grow older, this acid between the layers of our skin diminishes, and the skin somewhat caves, causing wrinkles, creases and folds. Once the long-lasting gel is injected into the skin, it lifts and adds volume to the treated areas. It is especially desirable for lip augmentation, with satisfied patients saying it passes the most crucial test of all -- the "kiss test". Restylane® is effective for up to six months after lip augmentation, and up to twelve months after facial contouring. Treatment time is approximately 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of areas treated. No skin testing is required. Allergic reactions are almost non-existent. Results are immediate, and patients can resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.
Perlane® is an FDA-approved cosmetic dermal filler that replaces lost volume and restores youthful contours to the skin to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). The unique hyaluronic acid gel particles in Perlane® are larger and designed for deeper injection than Restylane to add volume for structural support and lift. Perlane® is proven to deliver long-lasting results. The procedure is non-surgical, and the results are virtually instantaneous. Studies have shown that Perlane lasts at least six months in a majority of patients. Perlane® requires no pre-testing.
